Kareena Kapoor Vs. Priyanka Chopra: The History of Their Rivalry

Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are reported to have embarked on a new journey of rivalry with regard to Madhur Bhandarkar's controversy ridden project 'Heroine', which was shelved after reports of Aishwarya Rai's pregnancy came around.
Though the two have been known as the most bitter rivals of Bollywood since years, there isn't one reason that gave rise to the animosity between them. MensXP tries to look at the history of their rivalry which seems to have peaked at the moment.
The first time Kareena and Priyanka worked together, was in the film 'Aitraaz'. The two hit it off instantly and became the best of buddies displaying their fondness for each other. Post the release of the film too, they were on great terms with each other, praising one another in public.

It was only after the two ladies got busy with their career that differences started coming in between them. In a scramble to reach the top, the two actresses gave their friendship a dump and professional rivalry got the better of their personal equation.
After rumors of the two actresses being involved in a catfight kept growing but the actresses maintained that they had simply been out of touch with each other. They made a joint appearance in the finale of the first season of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' with Shah Rukh Khan as the host. It was the first time the actresses had come together after their brief interaction in the film 'Don'.
With time the rumors started growing again, and, the actresses, influenced by the rumors, had their own thing to say. In December 2007, Kareena took a dig at Priyanka by stating that she did not consider any of her contemporaries to be 'actresses' except Rani Mukherjee. Priyanka made a dignified response to it by saying, "Bebo is a more senior and hopefully more mature actress than me. I guess she's qualified to comment on my calibre," and also praised Kareena's performance in 'Jab We Met'.

Kareena, once again, ridiculed Priyanka Chopra on the show 'Koffee With Karan'. Kareena seemed to think of Priyanka's acccent as unnatural asking where she got it from. Priyanka, who appeared with Kareena's ex-boyfriend and her on/off lover, appeared to be in no mood to let it go and retorted back saying that she got it from the same place as her boyfriend (Saif) did.

Another time the two actresses showed signs of a patch up was during an event for the Mumbai Police. During her performance, Priyanka got Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor on the stage to jive along with her. It was apparent that the two actresses wanted to bury the hatchet.
What is more interesting, is the face that both actress dated Shahid Kapoor and share a very close bond with Shah Rukh Khan. After Kareena and Shahid broke-up, Shahid found comfort in Priyanka, who had also broken up with Harman Baweja recently. Their relationship, however, was not as open as when shahid was dating Kareena. Priyanka and Shahid, reportedly, have broken up too and the two actresses seem to have one reason less to fight for.

With the competition between them touching new heights, we only wonder where this will take the two. Whether Kareena and Priyanka decide to revive their friendship or let the bitter rivalry take over them can only be revealed with time. Till then all we can do is wait for more gossip to pour in.

Of course, I want to marry Saif: Kareena

They are touted as the Brangelina of Bollywood and popularly known as Saifeena. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are the hottest couple in tinsel town. Stylish, glamorous, classy and beautiful, the two are just so perfect for each other.

And now Bebo is keen to take their relationship into another level. In an interview with a leading national daily, an excited Kareena said she wants to marry her beau Saif.

When asked if she wants to marry Saif Ali Khan, she replied, "Of course, I do. Doesn't every woman want to take her relationship to the next level? Saif and I are definitely going to marry. We just don't want to talk about it right now. It'll take away the focus from the good work we are doing currently."

How will they be as a married couple? Read on to find out what Astroyogi predicts!

Kareena is a Virgo and her date of birth is 21st September 1980 while Saif, born on 16th August 1970, is a Leo. Magnanimous Leo will overlook Virgo's tendency to be critical, while Virgo will take pride in Leo's accomplishments, good humour and loveable nature. Leo will respect Virgo's clever and alert mentality. If Virgo permits Leo to hog the limelight and refrain from being too critical of Leo's desire to hold the central place in the family circle, they should have no real barriers to a happy and successful partnership.

However, the leonine penchant for always having the last word, of always being proved right may irk the ultra-critical Virgo. As the virgin is extremely selfless and considerate by nature, her personality may clash with the thoughtlessness and insensitivity of the Leo male. In a marriage, it is best when Leo leads and Virgo follows and the differences can be bridged. But meanwhile, he is grateful to her for her tranquil presence and practical nature. She in turn likes his unshakeable optimism and his confidence. There is a very good chance of their marriage working out.

'You won't get to see an item number in this film'

Almost every other film randomly incorporates an item number to boost its promotions. Do we see one here?

See, this is clearly not that sort of film where you get to see an item number. The direction cannot afford to accommodate an item song.

That said, we do hope it is an interesting ride for the audience. What we do have on offer is a mujra when our story goes to Pakistan. Producer Dinesh Vijan also pushed for a mujra because in Agent Vinod raunchy numbers are in the background. (Smirks)

Priyanka Chopra was reportedly approached for an item song.

At one point, we did consider an item song and lots of names of actresses other than our heroine were tossed around but when the scripting was finally done, we realised it didn't call for one.

Kareena read EK MAIN AUR EKK TU script twice

Less than a month remains for the release of EK MAIN AUR EKK TU and debutant director Shakun Batra is confident that just like other Kareena Kapoor starrers, his debut film too would benefit immensely from the presence of an actress of her caliber.

''I know for sure that people would appreciate her performance. She has put a lot of her in EK MAIN AUR EKK TU. In fact this is one of the few scripts which she has read more than twice because she wanted to do something more in the film and grab the nuances well. If I look at the film objectively as a director as well as a member of the audience, I see this as one of her better performances,'' says Shakun.

Since the film is set in contemporary times with an urban set up to it, one wonders whether it would risk turning out to be a caricature affair with characters that come across as a tad stereotyped.

''See, the thing is that today many of us moviegoers stay in urban cities,' reasons Shakun, 'We dress in a certain way and people around us have seen an urban upbringing too. Yes, filmmakers tend to stereotype urban atmosphere but if we try hard, we can write such characters in 100 different ways. This is exactly the case in EK MAIN AUR EKK TU as well. Yes, it is a romcom with definite Western sensibilities to it. However for the Indian audience, it is going to be a unique experience for sure.''

We just hope that the promise is indeed kept once this Karan Johar production releases all over on 10th February.

Imran Khan teaming up again with Kareena Kapoor

Actor Imran Khan's on-screen chemistry with actress Kareena Kapoor in the movie Ek Main Aur Ekk Tuhas received lots of appreciation from the movie buffs across the country. Now, even before the release of the film a news is doing the rounds that Imran Khan will once again team up with Kareena Kapoor.

Sources claim that producer Karan Johar is very much impressed with Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor's on-screen chemistry in his film Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. Now, he is thinking of roping in the duo for another movie under his banner Dharma Productions. Sources add that the filmmaker has a few youthful romantic subjects that he wants to discuss with them.

However, in a chat with an English daily, Imran Khan has confirmed the news of another film. The budding Bollywood star says that they have received fantastic response for the chemistry they share in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. Along with Karan and Kareena, he is considering on doing a new film.

Kareena is born in a family that have been actors for generations, including her paternal great-grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor; her grandfather, Raj Kapoor; her paternal uncles, Shammi, Shashi, Rishi, and Rajiv; as well as aunt, Neetu Singh, & Jennifer Kendall, the wives of Rishi and Shashi respectively. On her maternal side, her grandfather, Hari Shivdasani, and aunt, Sadhana, have been actors in their own rights.

As a child, Kareena Kapoor studied in Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu, Bombay, and thereafter was enrolled in Dehra Dun's prestigious Welham Girls' Boarding School.
